Square Earth Studio Covers NYFW Spring 2013 Collections

There are few things photographers and videographers dream of more than covering New York Fashion Week. The invitation-only, exclusive event happens only twice a year and getting a chance to shoot at the end of the runway is dream come true for many in the field.

This past season we had the distinct pleasure of providing that access to the Austin, TX company, Square Earth Studio, owned by videographer Marco Gutierrez and photographer Maryna Martson. As award-winning photographers, Marco and Maryna are known for their commitment to mission critical assignments. From hanging out of a helicopter to film a Red Bull ad to shooting underwater for Vogue Italia, there is nothing this pair won’t do to get the shot!

As you enjoy the coverage we’re bringing you from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, we want you to meet the talent behind the photos and videos you will see. While we all swoon over the designer creations, you could never even see them without talented people in the industry like Marco and Maryna.

Meet Marco and Maryna

Marco Gutierrez is a commercial and fashion photographer and a cinematographer for commercials, music videos and documentaries.  His love of photography came at an early age when he picked up his first Kodak Instamatic camera.  He’s classically trained in black and white photography and likes to push the boundaries of modern digital photography.  His work has won several accolades including a trophy for best Commercial Photography at the Texas Professional Photographers of America and the Southwest Professional Photographers of America.

His photography is influenced by his background in cinematography.  His photographs have a sense of cinematic magic and drama.  He studied cinematography at the University of Southern California and has gone on to shoot international commercials for Red Bull and internationally broadcasted documentaries with the Discovery Channel.

Maryna Marston is a product and fashion photographer and has always had a passion for photography, inspired by her mother, who is also an avid photographer. Maryna grew up in Kiev, Ukraine, graduating with a Masters Degree in International Business from the Kiev National University of Economics, before moving to London.  While in London, Maryna did photography for the non-profit Global Angels, and had her work published in a London-based magazine.

Maryna won several awards, trophies and a Judges Choice ribbon in the Texas Professional Photographers of America competition, as well as being published in Vogue Italia.  Maryna currently shoots covers and spreads for the Austin-based magazine Created Woman, and recently published a book of her work entitled La Femme Parallel.  Maryna’s love for fashion is reflected in all of her works, with particular interest in haute de couture.

Maryna and Marco could not be more different, but it’s those difference that form new and fresh ideas.  They love to challenge each other artistically and clients love working with the creative duo!
